Parameter Tree:
EARTH SCIENCE > CRYOSPHERE > SEA ICE > HEAT FLUX
Definition:
The measurement of the heat flux or heat loss from open ocean areas within
the sea ice pack is important for the study of energy balance in the polar
regions and local and regional climatology. Heat loss through the open
water is 100 times more than through thick ice.
