Summary

Abstract:
The Japanese Advanced Earth Observation Satellite (ADEOS) was launched on August 17, 1996 on an H-II rocket from the Tangeshima Space Center in Japan. The launch of the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) on ADEOS continued the global measurements of ozone that began with the TOMS instrument on Nimbus-7 and Meteor-3 (1978-1994) and was coincident with the TOMS instrument on Earth Probe-TOMS. The ADEOS spacecraft was lost on June 30, 1997 and no further TOMS data was collected from ADEOS. The ADEOS TOMS data consists of ozone data in Dobson Units, refelectivity, erythermal ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and aerosol index. ADEOS data is available from: ftp://jwocky.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/adeos/ http://ozoneaq.gsfc.nasa.gov/measurements.md and consists of north pole, south pole, and daily global 3-map composites as well as ASCII data. ADEOS TOMS data was obtained 3 or 4 times per day and was processed to ASCII data (in Dobson units). Nimbus-7, Meteor-3, and EP-TOMS data are also available from: http://ozoneaq.gsfc.nasa.gov/ |
