Summary
Abstract:
These notebooks are the original field records of geologic observations made
by USGS geologists working in Alaska. They contain field stations, sample numbers, rock types and descriptions, terrain conditions and outcrop sketches. Some also report topographic measurements, daily weather, and camp life. A few personal diaries of the early explorers are preserved. The notebooks may be viewed by written requests or appointment only. Access to certain materials may be restricted for non-government employees. Microfilm for these records is stored in Menlo Park, California. The data consists of 3,600 notebooks. Geographic Coverage
