Processing of Radar Altimeter Network Data as part of the Large-scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia
Entry ID:
RALNET_LBA
Summary
Abstract:
RALNET-LBA is a data sharing objective aimed at the Land Surface Hydrology
component of LBA. Its contents are the direct output of the "Altimetric Remote Sensing of the Amazon: Contribution to Surface Water Dynamics" project which is currently funded by NASA (NRA 98-MTPE-01 Hydrological Participation in LBA). The project PI is Charon Birkett (USRA NASA/GSFC), Co-I is Mike Jasinski (NASA/GSFC), the ... ![]()

Quality
The data set from this gauge is complete since deployment in November 1999. See also the chart of available data at the URL below (Chart of available data - correct as of 2005-07-20). Pressure and temperature data are retrieved from the submerged gauge when time and weather allow. The records are in hex format. Records are stored as datalogger memory images and must be processed to generate *.tg files. Tidal records are checked for gross errors in height values and obvious timing errors. Further checks are done by NTC during processing.
Access Constraints
Records are stored in the form in which they are retrieved from the tide gauges. Futher processing is done by the National Tidal Centre. Processed data are available in graphical form from the National Tidal Centre.
