Quality
The accuracy and reliability of the information is determined by the primary
data providers but is generally believed to be excellent. As of July, 2005, species inventories from 1,415 protected areas in 133 countries are provided. These inventories account for approximately 25% of the world's species of fishes, 32% of the world's species of amphibians, 35% of the world's species of reptiles, 75% of the world's species of birds, and 62% of the world's species of mammals. In excess of 235,000 plant occurrence records are provided, but due to taxonomic constraints, the number of unique species represented is unknown.
