CLIVUE CD-ROMEntry ID: gov.noaa.ncdc.C00336
Abstract: The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) developed a CD-ROM in support of a museum exhibit which traveled across the US. The CD contains a 1,500-station subset of NCDC's nearly 8,000 US daily cooperative stations for the period 1900-1991 for the United States of America, including Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Pacific islands. The user selects a date and area of the ... U.S., and the CD-ROM database is queried for stations within the specified domain having data. Then, the system displays daily maximum and minimum temperatures, precipitation, and snowfall for the site. Graphs showing 7 years, 21 years, and the full period of record (varies by station) for the station(s) are available. Visual displays allow users to view trends, variability, and extremes. This is a joint NCDC and Franklin Institute Product and is available from NCDC, in MS-DOS compatibility only.
Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
