[ Update this Record ]

Abstract: The Fire Product: Forest Fire Danger Index for Spain was part of the
International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme Data and Information
System (IGBP-DIS) Regional Satellite Fire Data Compilation CD-ROM.

Fire danger due to vegetation water stress has been mapped using AVHRR
NDVI temporal evolution. The aim of this application is to obtain, in
real time, a daily forest fire danger index for Spain. The analysis
has been developed on a regular basis from April to September since
1994. The index is sent to the Spanish Forestry Service.
