Abstract: The NRCS data dictionary lists 65 fields including names,
identification, locations, physical sizes, and program aspects
of dams built with SCS assistance. Estimated current number of
such dams is 26,000. Dataset is on a national scale and resides
at the SCS National Headquarters Engineering Division. Primary
purpose is to manage dam safety and watershed projects programs.

of Dams" database.

Collection Methodology: Data are generated by NRCS offices at
all levels. Data are primarily collected by NRCS State Offices,
then forwarded to Regional Offices and then on to Headquarters.

Update Characteristics: Portions of dataset are updated as new
dams are constructed or as more information is obtained on
Record consists of information about a single dam. Number of
records ranges from 25K to 27K requiring from 5MB to 7MB
