Summary

Abstract: The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) digital boundary
was created as part of the Protected Areas Geographic Information System
(PAGIS) project. An updated digital version of Wells's boundary was critical to
the PAGIS project. The digital boundary was delineated from management and
research areas within the Reserve. It was not based on legal definitions.

Purpose: The PAGIS project provided each NERR with a fully integrated
geographic information system (GIS), encompassing spatial data and Internet
capabilities. One of the essential GIS data layers being compiled for each
Reserve was a digital boundary. The Reserve boundary was delineated based on
management and research areas and is not meant to be a legal description of the
Reserve.
