Abstract: U.S. imports of fresh fruits and vegetables from most foreign
countries are subject to regulation administered by USDA's
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), and carried
out under the Plant Protection and Quarantine program. "Plant
Protection and Quarantine Import Data" contains monthly and
annual data on the volume of over 200 fruit and vegetable
imports, including those from U.S. ... territories, and are reported
by country of origin and port of entry for fiscal years 1983-89.
1990 data are not available, and only annual data are available
for 1991 due to data limitations. The data include U.S. fresh
fruit and vegetable imports from virtually all countries. Most
Canadian imports, however, are not subject to APHIS regulations
because the Canadian pest complex is similar to the U.S.
complex; but some files include Canadian entries. This data may
also be incomplete because of partial or missing reports from
Collection Organization: APHIS.
Collection Methodology: Data are collected from U.S. ports and
country reports from country of origin.
