U.S. Station Monthly Normals of Snowfall and Snow Depth (DSI-9641K)Entry ID: gov.noaa.ncdc.C00396
Abstract: U.S. Station Monthly Normals of Snowfall and Snow Depth is digital data set DSI-9641K, archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). This data set was created as a result of a project to prepare official snowfall and snow depth normals for the period 1961-90 for weather stations across the United States of America and it territories, as well as several Pacific islands. U.S. climate normals are periodically prepared by the NCDC according to guidelines established by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). There are 3295 stations represented in this data set. The snow normals were computed for stations that had at least 15 years of non-missing data for snowfall, snow cover, and number of days with snowfall and snow cover during the thirty-year period.
Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
