ULF geomagnetic field measurements at Terra Nova Bay (Antarctica)

Abstract: Measurements of geomagnetic field variations in the ULF frequency band (1 mHz -
1 Hz) are made by a triaxial search-coil magnetometer at Terra Nova Bay (TNB,
Antarctica) since 1992. The present data set are measurements made by a renewed
instrumentation installed during the Antarctic campaigns 2001/2002 and
2002/2003. This new instrumentation consists of magnetic sensors with high
sensitivity (2-3 mV/nT/mHz in the 1 mHz - 100 mHz frequency band) and of an
acquisition system which allows a continuous recording (at 4 Hz sampling rate
and timing via GPS) also during the austral winter.

Quality Data are obtained with a triaxial Search-Coil magnetometer. It records the
geomagnetic northward (H), eastward (D), and vertically downward (Z) components
of the geomagnetic field variations.
