Abstract:
Soil and water was sampled to determine the distribution and occurrence of the pathogenic free living amoebae which are the aetiological agents of Primary Amebic Meningo-encephalitis. Samples were taken from soil and water in the Taylor Valley, Wright Valley, Lake Fryxell, Lake Vanda, Cape Royds, Cape Barne, Cape Evans and are Scott Base and McMurdo Station. Samples will be put to culture and isolates were characterized.
