Summary
Abstract: This Level 2 (swath) data set’s land surface parameters, surface soil moisture, land surface (skin) temperature, and vegetation water content, are derived from passive microwave remote sensing data, using the Land Parameter Retrieval Model (LPRM). Each swath is packaged with associated geolocation fields. The data set covers the period from June 2002 to October 2011 (when the Advanced Microwave ... View entire text

ISO Topic Category
Quality The LPRM/AMSR-E data are sensitive to both internal model limitations and external processes and are screened for radio frequency interference, the presence of snow/frozen soils, water, and dense vegetation covers. All screened out data pixels are flagged and indicated by a non-data value. A soil moisture uncertainty parameter is scheduled to be included (Parinussa et al., 2011).
