Quality The cores were dated using multi-species annual layer counting and combined into one record (see Palmer et al., JGR 106, 2001)

The dating scale is known as LD1 (see van Ommen et al., Annals of Glaciol., 39, 2004, in press)

This dating scale has been updated in May 2007 to add one year around Tambora region - it is the latest and best dating as of September 2010

The dates provided in temporal coverage are approximate only and cover the span of years over which the ice cores were collected.

Use Constraints Please also note that various analyses are still in progress and the data are still subject to joint ownership by the Australian Antarctic Division Group and Paul Mayewski's group at University of Maine. The data should not be distributed further without consultation.
