Abstract:
Blood and faecal samples were collected from 96 emperor penguins at Cape
Washington and from 29 Adelie penguins at Mandible Cirque. Plasma concentrations of corticosterone will be measured and the presence or absence of antibodies against various diseases determined in plasma. Faecal samples will be cultured to determine whether various bacteria are present.

The plasma samples are in the private laboratory freezers at the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is possible to provide plasma samples once the investigators measurements are made.
