Abstract:
Atmospheric winds from the Wind Profiler are available since 1987 from four sites in Colorado: Stapleton Airport (Denver); Platteville; Flagler and Fleming. The Wind Profiler is an upward pointing radar which senses the backscatter from radio-refractive-index irregularities caused by turbulence. These measurements are converted into wind velocity at vertical levels ranging from 0.5 to 16.25 km. ...
