Abstract:
The purpose of this dataset is to determine the effect of prescribed
fire and pre-cutting for salvage on tree re-generation, plant composition, production, and quality in spruce-fir and mixed wood stands defoliated by spruce budworm. "Plant Composition and Production Following Fire and Clear-Cutting for Salvage in Budworm Defoliated Stands" describes number of regenerated trees, plant production, vegetation, vegetation selection by deer and moose and forage quality on: 1) defoliated, salvaged burned stands; 2) defoliated, savaged, unburned stands; 3) defoliated, unsalvaged, unburned stands; 4) undefoliated, unsalvaged, unburned stands. Data collected in Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge, Washington County and Private Land in Bucksport located in Hancock County, Maine.
