Abstract:
The CARIACO Program, supported by NSF, Venezuela's CONICIT, and NASA, is an oceanographic time series station that examines processes that affect carbon cycling in the Cariaco Basin, off the coast of Venezuela. The time series is located at 10.5N, 64.40W, and consists of hydrographic and bio-geochemical data collected on a monthly basis from ship. The series includes phytoplankton biomass, productivity and hydrographic observations, as well as bio-optical observations to assist ocean color satellite product validation. Carbon fluxes to depth are examined with a sediment trap array.

Quality
The locations of the photographs were collected with a Garmin GPS12, sent to the camera using the NMEA protocol, and embedded in image EXIF tags. The image metadata were the only record of photo centres logged at flight time.
Flying heights are above the WGS84 ellipsoid in metres. See the EXIF header of an image for the aperture and shutter speed details for that image. Locations for ARISE flight 1 photographs are not available due to a GPS problem.
Access Constraints
The sets of photographs are not available for download due to combined file size but can be requested via Related URLs.
Information about the photographs and flight lines and photo centres representing the ARISE and ISPOL photography are available for download via Related URLs.
