The Sweden Biogeochemical Database
Entry ID:
SGU_BIOGEOCHEMISTRY
Summary
Abstract:
The biogeochemical database contains results from sampling and analyses of
water living plants (mosses and roots, approximately 15 elements). The samples have been ashed prior to analyses, and the results show how the composition of stream water varies in Sweden. Natural weathering of soils and bedrock, as well as anthropogenic sources, contribute to the variation. As several of the elements analysed are potentially harmful metals, the results are of interest for environmental purposes. Mineral exploration is another application for the data. Here the copper contents are shown (as mg/kg ash). The colours range from blue (low contents) to red (high contents). Geographic Coverage
