Generalized Geological Map of the World

Summary
Abstract:
The Generalized Geology of the World is a highly simplified digital geological
data set composed of geographically referenced rock unit patchworks and fault lines which can be combined with tables of descriptive data. These attribute tables contain broadly classified age, main rock type, and name information. This combination of digital data can be used to produce a thematic display. Further information on this dataset can be obtained from http://atlas.geo.cornell.edu Geographic Coverage

Use Constraints
The data are meant for the preparation of displays which visually communicate
global geoscientific patterns at scales approximating the 1:35,000,000 scale for which they were prepared. They are not intended for any type of quantitative analysis, because much detail was omitted, and units were grouped and simplified in the process of generalization. ... ![]() Ancillary Keywords
