Water Use - Total Groundwater Withdrawal

Abstract: Groundwater recharge is the average annual amount of water that is estimated to infiltrate soils, including water from rivers and streams that lose it to underlying strata. In general, this figure would represent the maximum amount of water that could be withdrawn annually without ultimately depleting the groundwater resource. The groundwater withdrawal corresponds to the measure of a part of the total exploitable water resources witch would come from the groundwater water resource i.e. the volume of water generated by precipitation, drainage into rivers (typically, base flow of rivers) and seepage from rivers into aquifers for various purposes.
