Abstract:
[Summary Adapted from the NOAA/ARL home page] The global climatology of tropospheric precipitable water is based on radiosonde data for the 23 year period, 1973-1995. The climatological variables are the mean precipitable water in several layers, the standard deviations of these monthly means and the average within-month standard deviations. Also recorded are the number of years of data and the average number of observations per month. The data are listed by station for each month at 7 layers from the surface to 300 mb. Data are listed separately for 00 UT and 12 UT observations and also combined. Complete documentation is available as NOAA Technical Memorandum ERL ARL-219 entitled Tropospheric Precipitable Water: A Radiosonde-based Climatology by Rebecca J. Ross and William P. Elliott. You may obtain this data set at "ftp://gus.arlhq.noaa.gov/pub/climate/W_climatology/" This data is also available by anonymous FTP at gus.arlhq.noaa.gov.
