Abstract:
The Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) data contains atmospheric and oceanographic parameters based on the 12-hour forecasts by the Hemispheric Primitive Equation Model and the Navy Operational Global Atmospheric Prediction System (NOGAPS). The Primitive Equation Model was used prior to August 1982. The operational NOGAPS (4.0) model executes several times each 00 UTC and 12 UTC, including a six day forecast completing 5.5 hours past the synoptic time. NOGAPS outputs nearly 25,000 grids per day. The NOGAPS analysis is performed on the Gaussian grid of the global spectral model on the 16 standard pressure levels from 1000 to 10 hPa. The maximum number of observations per volume is 600. NOGAPS product information and weather maps (standard 1 degree averaged resolution) are available at (under FNMOC WXMAP Global Areas NGP Model) : http://www.usgodae.org/cgi-bin/datalist.pl?generate=summary |
