SeaWiFS Bio-Optical Archive and Storage System (SeaBASS): In Situ Oceanographic and Atmospheric Bio-Optical Data
Entry ID:
NASA_GSFC_SEABASS
Summary
Abstract:
SeaBASS serves as the official in situ data repository for the NASA Ocean
Biology Processing Group (OBPG), which maintains responsibility for all NASA ocean color and sea surface temperature satellite data processing and validation. These radiometric and biogeophysical data facilitate the bio-optical algorithm development and satellite data product validation activities conducted by the OBPG ... ![]()

Access Constraints
Following the NASA Earth Science Data and Information Policy, all SeaBASS data
are publicly available for research and educational use. Registration is required, but only as a means for the Administrators to contact data users (in the event of updates to datasets, for example). Data collected prior to 1 January 2000 have been released to the NOAA National Oceanographic Data Center and are available via http://data.nodc.noaa.gov/accession/0000632 .
Use Constraints
SeaBASS data are for research and educational use only, and are not to be
redistributed. All researchers incorporating SeaBASS data into their research are expected to acknowledge NASA, SeaBASS, and the original data contributor(s). Users of data are encouraged to discuss relevant findings with the data provider(s) early in their research. Users are required to give all data provider(s) a copy of any manuscript resulting from use of their data prior to the initial submission for publication, thus giving the data provider(s) an opportunity to comment on the paper. For three years following data collection, the data provider(s) shall have the right to be named as co-author(s). Ancillary Keywords
