Abstract: The aim of this work was to understand the effects of impurities on the
microstructure and properties of ice. Compression tests on single crystals
with and without sulfuric acid at -10oC and -30oC showed results similar to
previous tests at -20oC, i.e. the acid softened the ice, but the stress
