An initial formation of fresh water manganese nodules through the microorganisms participation
Entry ID:
MANGANESE_NODULE
Summary
Abstract:
The field environmental geological exploration in Matsue City and
Kanazawa City, as well as, the water quality investigation of river water at 200 sites have been carried out. From a cultivation experiment of microorganisms obtained, it was made clear that an enrichment of manganese and iron occurs in a short time such as several days through a participation of these microorganisms, and the structural materials (manganese nodules) similar to a shape of Leptothrix discophora are formed, and furthermore its process was explained. In addition, the microstructure and its constitution constituents of river water and sediment were clarified by an instrumental analysis. Geographic Coverage
