Summary
Abstract: Data are collected for the purposes of monitoring on-ground works at Australian Antarctic stations associated with the remediation of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil. Output datasets consist of soil oxygen (%), soil temperature (C), soil moisture content (VWC - Volumetric Water Content %), and aeration manifold pressure as measured by buried sensors (O2, T C, VWC) or manifold instruments ... Quality Datasets are collected continuously, (one measurement every 5 - 20 minute interval depending upon location). Episodic disruptions to data collection may occur due to power failure, datalogger faults, servicing, human error, and other faults. In particular, some sensor wires at Macquarie Island suffered from rabbit and rodent damage during the 08/09 and 09/10 seasons.
Some sensor wires at the Lower PRB and Casey Biopiles have been damaged by plant movements and heat-trace failure.
Access Constraints A webpage displaying snapshots of current data from the sensors is available from the provided URL. The entire dataset is not yet publicly available, but is available to participants in the Australian Antarctic program upon request to the investigators.
