Abstract:
As part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Coastal Engineering Research Center (CERC), the Field Wave Gaging Program (FWGP) provides reliable, long-term wave measurements in shallow water for use in planning, designing, and operating the Corps' coastal projects. The FWGP meets the Corps' needs for the entire U.S. coastline. The FWGP combines wave data from wave gages of the Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) with stations on the west coast and Hawaii, Florida's Coastal Data Network (CDN), the Virginia Coastal Information Program (VCIP), CERC's Network for Engineering Monitoring of the Oceans (NEMO), and those National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) buoys funded by FWGP. The FWGP serves as the principal manager and coordinator of its sub-networks, as well as the national clearinghouse for wave measurements. The complete database includes over 500 gage years of wave measurements. Data products include the monthly "Compendium of US Wave Data", containing plots of wave parameters for all available wave gages, and online access to data files.
