ABSTRACT: The sea surface temperature (SST) products were derived from NOAA's Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) for the coastal United States. They were created by NOAA CoastWatch Program and are now only available through this website. CoastWatch started with only POES/AVHRR SST data for the East Coast, but later added more regional nodes of Alaska, Caribbean, Gulf of ...
 Purpose: PURPOSE: The CoastWatch mission is to provide and ensure timely access to near real-time satellite data to protect, restore and manage U.S. coastal ocean resources, and understand climate variability and change to further enhance society's quality of life.
