Albedos for 300-2500nm for thin sea ice covered with frost flowers, nilas, snow, and slush collected during SIPEX II
Entry ID:
SIPEX_II_Albedo
Summary
Abstract:
This dataset contains albedo data for several varieties of sea ice and snow from 300-2500 nm measured during the SIPEX II voyage (2012). An Analytical Spectral Device (ASD) spectrophotometer records the amount of radiation impingent on a cosine collector, which contains a spectralon diffuser plate. The radiation that hits the diffuser plate is scattered equally in all directions (isotropically). ...

Quality
In general, it was difficult to obtain albedo data because not all of the ice stations had thin ice types that were easy to access either by boat or by standing at the edge of a lead.
At ice station 3 (October 5th), the thin ice that we were standing on cracked and we were only able to get two upwelling and two downwelling spectrums. We did not have any equipment failures.
