Soluble acidic gases at South Pole
Entry ID:
DibbISCAT2000
Summary
Abstract:
We used the mist chamber sampling technique with analysis by ion
chromatography to sample and quantify soluble acids at South Pole in December, 2000. Two samplers were operated simultaneously for the 2 week duration of the experiment, with nominal sampling interval of 30 minutes. One sampler remained 85 cm above the snow, the second used a 2 m long heated inlet that allowed sampling at multiple heights, ranging from 40 cm below the snow surface up to 85 cm above.
