Abstract: This data set consists of multi-year averages of plant available water
content in agricultural fields of the former Soviet Union from 144
administrtative districts. Soil moisture observations were for the
period 1946-1980 in the western part and 1927-1982 for the eastern part.
Data are freely available from the Global Soil Moisture Data Bank at
