Geochemistry of Vestfjella flood basalts
Entry ID:
AVL_DML-BAS
Summary
Abstract:
Data set includes field observations (structures, lithology, stratigraphy, strike, dip), petrographic descriptions, and geochemical (XRF, ICP-MS) and isotopic (Sr, Nd, Pb, Hf) analyses of various igneous rock types belonging to the Jurassic flood basalt suite of Vestfjella, western Dronning Maud Land,
Antarctica. Currently, (12/2012) the data set contains chemical analyses of ca. 400 whole rock samples. Mineral chemical (microprobe) data and geochronological data (Ar-Ar on feldspars and mica, U-Pb on zircon) are also available. Geographic Coverage

ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY REPORT: Parameters were collected with the typical accuracies for such kind of studies.
LOGICAL CONSISTENCY REPORT: Samples were collected with consistent methodology on all stations. Same analyses were applied. COMPLETENESS REPORT: Some metazoan taxa were not identified in detail and summarized as others. HORIZONTAL POSITIONAL ACCURACY REPORT: contact author, see also cruise reports VERTICAL POSITIONAL ACCURACY REPORT: contact author, see also cruise report PROCESS DESCRIPTION: see methods, 1 student and several taxonomists PROCESS DATE: 1991

No restrictions apply.
Use Constraints
These data present a snapshot in time, but are representative for the location and depth where collected. Identification is done where applicable and known; different taxonomies might result into different species names. Information is not available on species level. Only higher taxonomic ranks were analysed.
