Summary
|
Abstract:
This legacy dataset contains information on the establishment of a landscape-level site conservation design for the Roan Mountain Massif. A variety of spatial data was compiled to provide a landscape tool for agency, organizations, and local groups interested in conservation planning on the Roan Mountain Massif. Information that describes this dataset primarily comes from one report. This metadata record documents legacy data to the extent practicable, as required by Executive Order 12906, "Coordinating Geographic Data Acquisition and Access: The National Spatial Data Infrastructure," dated April 11, 1994." Details may be missing, but given the resources available, the information provided herein is as concise as possible at this point in time. Purpose: This data was compiled as a result of a site conservation planning meeting held in May 1999, wherein a group of scientists, landowners, and natural resource managers with specific responsibilities in the Roan Mountain area recognized that there was a need to develop a Roan Mountain Massif site conservation design. They identified a common list of goals and desired ecological states for major habitat types. A variety of existing and derived spatial data was compiled to provide a landscape tool for agency, organizations, and local groups interested in conservation planning on the Roan Mountain Highlands/Massif. |
