Summary
Abstract:
These GIS data show part of an underwater tidal project proposed (2006) by MA Tidal for potential future development of tidal instream energy conversion devices. Information about the Project is available from the FERC preliminary permit application, Docket no. 12670. The project will include approximately 50 to 150 tidal turbines and will be located in 40 to 75 feet of water in Vineyard Sound, north of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Interconnects will be in Falmouth and/or the north shore of Tisbury, in Martha's Vineyard.
Purpose: This dataset was created for reference and display of proposed energy facilities in Massachusetts coastal waters. Component of Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management Human Uses database. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: None. ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY REPORT: Attribute accuracy of this dataset was not tested.
LOGICAL CONSISTENCY REPORT: These data are believed to be consistent, although not tested. Geometry appears to be topologically clean. COMPLETENESS REPORT: All displayed features were mapped based upon the review and discretion of senior technical engineers. The criteria of utilizing a 60 foot contour interval and/or delineating out those areas greater than a 30 foot contour was chosen based on minimum depth requirements suitable for current tidal instream energy conversion devices.
