Summary
Abstract: The Global Rural-Urban Mapping Project, Version 1 (GRUMPv1) consists of estimates of human population for the years 1990, 1995, and 2000 by 30 arc-second (1km) grid cells and associated datasets dated circa 2000. National Administrative boundaries are derived from the land area grid to show the outlines of pixels (cells) that contain administrative units in GRUMPv1 on a per-country/territory ... Purpose: To permit cartographic display of countries and territories that exactly match the GRUMPv1 population surfaces.

Quality This data set is used primarily to display the location of NAWQA Trace Element
Study Sites and for use with the NAWQA Study Unit boundaries coverage (NAWQA)
for analysis of data at the national scale. It is not recommended for either
local or regional analysis due to the small scale of most of the features.

The dataset was created from Latitude/Longitude coordinates using ArcView GIS.
A shapefile was created from lat/long coordinates and was then converted into a
coverage using ArcInfo. The coverage was re-projected into Albers for use with
other CAMD GIS coverages.
