Baltic Sea Experiment (BALTEX) Model Forcing and Data for the GEWEX Cloud System Study Data Integration for Model Evaluation (GCSS-DIME)
Entry ID:
GISS_GCSS-DIME_BALTEX
Summary
Abstract:
The Baltic Sea Experiment (BALTEX) is designed as a cage experiment to
assess the total heat and water flux divergence of the BALTEX area. One of the BALTEX field experiments, BASIS, had an intensive field phase in the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea in a boundary zone between the open sea and the ice-covered sea from 16 February to 7 March, 1998 This case study presents data from 16 Feb 1998 to 7 March 1998 and covers a region from 45N to 75N latitude and from 0 to 45E longitude. The data for this experiment is under Working Group 3 (Extratropical Layer Cloud Systems) of the GEWEX Cloud System Study (GCSS) to improve physical parameterizations of clouds, other boundary layer processes, and their interactions.
