Electron Beam Source Irradiation as an Alternative Quarantine TreatmentEntry ID: USDA0530
Abstract: The purpose of the research data found in "Electron Beam Source Irradiation as
an Alternative Quarantine Treatment" is to determine the dose response to
electron-beam-generated irradiation of all immature stage of codling moth
artificial diet; determine dose levels necessary to achieve quarantine security
of immature codling moth; and determine the qulaity of "Bing" and "Rainier"
sweet cherries ... after exposure to quarantine-secure levels of irradiation
produced by electron-beam source.
Collection Organization: USDA Agricultural Research Service
Collection Methodology: Irradiate "Bing" and "Rainier" cherries using an
electron-beam source irradiator at multiple levels of irradiation. Determine
fruit quality (color, firmness, etc.) after various times in cold storage;
ability of treated fruit to withstand transit.
