Hereford Cattle Genetic and Environmental Trend DataEntry ID: MSU0010
Abstract: The "Hereford Cattle Genetic and Environmental Trend" data set
contains data on [birth, preweaning, weaning, postweaning, weights and
weight gains, mature weight, and mating information. Data have been
collected on a closed line of Hereford Cattle at the Livestock and
Range Research Laboratory in Miles City, Montana since 1934. Germplasm
has been widely disseminated across the Hereford breed, ... both in USA
and worldwide. Ongoing data collection is from approximately 200 to
300 animals each year.
Collection Organization: USDA Agricultural Research Service,
Fort Keogh Livestock and Range
Collection Methodology: Pre-weaning, weaning, post-weaning,
mature weight information, and mating information were collected
beginning in 1934 and continue through the present.
Collection Frequency: Depends on the trait being recorded.
The data are generally available. The USDA Agricultural Research
Service requests that interpretation of any results of data
analysis be done in collaboration with the contact person(s) for
