Abstract: The research data found in "Measuring Trace Gases (Including
Methyl Bromide) in Smoke in Brazil" are directed toward
measuring trace gases in smoke plumes over Savannah country
(Brazil) and over moist forest where slashed forests are being
burned. Remote sensing (4-channel remote
sensing instrument flying on Lear jet) was used to measure
energy output and relate it to total carbon flux; and ... measure
overall areas that were burned.
The purpose of this research is to determine amount of methyl
bromide and other gases being generated by fires: 1) measure
area burned over Central Brazil; 2) measure biomass consumed per
meter squared; and 3) measure amount of methyl bromide and other
trace gases emitted per kilo
of carbon consumed.
