Tropical Cyclone Data-Global

Summary

Abstract: These datasets consist of global tropical cyclone tracks covering the period 1871 to 1969. All data used received extensive quality control. Because of the disparity among original forms, the data was divided into basins. It is important that this be understood because of format and code changes for each basin. Originally these data were contained on card decks and numbers were re-sequenced for each major basin, dividing the consolidated data into six essentially homogenous subsets. This dataset was formally known as CD-993.

Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public.
