Entry ID:
gov.noaa.ncdc.C00673
Summary
Abstract:
Global Hazards/Climate Extremes highlights significant weather events around the world by month and year. It is prepared by and available from the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The Product was first released in 2003 as a framework to summarize weather-related hazards and disasters across the world. Information is presented on a web page that is updated weekly and is focused on the following events: drought, excessive heat, flooding, severe storms, tropical cyclones, extratropical cyclones, and severe winter weather. The information provided is a compilation of media news and other reports accompanied by relevant images, graphs, and documents.
Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public. CURRENTNESS REFERENCE: ground condition Fees, if applicable, are displayed on the web page for obtaining these data, and fees are also dependent on customer order specifications. Please contact NCDC for further information on fees and terms for retrieving these data.

All Sky Imager Data
Data are recorded with a timing accuracy of +/- 1 second. Typical time resolution is 1 frame per 30 seconds although this can be interpreted from the time stamps on each frame. Every frame has the following information stamped in the corners: - Station Name - UTC Time - Day Number - Year Number - Exposure Time - Filter Wavelength In addition, each file contains preface frames giving latitude and longitude as well as orientation information.
Access Constraints
Data are available for use in research activities provided consent of, and suitable reference to experiments and principal investigator is given.
Data stored in MPEG Format. Data are available in nightly MPEG files and are typically between 10 Mbytes and 60 Mbytes in length depending on the time of year. The data are available on DVD - please contact the Data Centre for access. Data for all 4 stations began recording on 2001-03-01.
