Optical properties of aerosols in the Southern Ocean

Summary
Abstract: The aerosol size distribution, the scattering coefficient and the absorption coefficient were measured using an optical particle counter, an integrating nephelometer, and a particle soot/absorption photometer, respectively. For measurements, air was sampled at a rate of 20 LPM through a port near the ship fore about 10 m above the sea surface. In order to avoid the contamination by the exhaust from the ship engine, the data were excluded when the wind blew from the sector of 240- 360
