Abstract:
The streamflow data resides in 3 books, 'Schatzung der Mittleren Niederschlagshohen in Grossberzogtum Hessen in den Jahren 1901 und 1910' (C/dc 201 g), and 'Schatzung der Mittleren Niederschlagshohen in Grossberzogtum Hessen und Vergleichung der Nierderschlagshohen im Jahrzehnt 1901-1910' both written in German. The data contained in this book are tables of annual precipitation and streamflow data for the Hessen region of Germany, for each year from 1893 to 1910. The parameters included in these data are mean yearly precipitation total, streamflow, percent of annual precipitation total, mean annual precipitation amount, and deviation from the mean for each year's precipitation amount. Climate data for the Hessen region resides in 6 books, 'Deutsches Meteorologisches Jahrbuch Fur Grosshezogthum Hessen' (C/dc 200 Hd); 'Welter Und Wasserstands Beobachtungen in Hessen' (C/dc 200 H); 'Montaliche Uebesicht der Beobachtungen' (C/dc 200 Hm); Niederschlags Beobachtungen an den Meteorologischen Stationen im Grossherzogthum Hessen' (C/dc 200 Hn); and 'Wasserstandsbeobachtungen im Hessen 1921-1930' (C/dc 200 HW), all written in German. The data contained in these books are tables of daily ,monthly, and seasonal surface climatic data for the Hessen region of Germany. These data are for each individual month or year from 1901 to 1936. Parameters included in the hourly observations are pressure, temperature, humidity, winds, cloudiness, sunshine, precipitation, and snow cover. Daily variables incorporated in these data are: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, rain amount, sunshine hours and mean daily sunshine; snow cover and precipitation amounts; water levels; runoff; and maximum wind velocity (Darmstadt only). Monthly parameters included in these data are the following: mean pressure, humidity, temperature, vapor pressure, cloudiness, sunshine hours, and per cent sunshine; mean maximum and minimum pressure and temperature; absolute maximum and minimum pressure, temperature (including date), humidity, and wind velocity (Darmstadt only); wind direction frequency; 24 hour precipitation; precipitation amounts; number of days of precipitation of a certain intensity, snow of a certain intensity, hail, rain, dew, clear skies, cloudy skies, thunderstorms, fog, sleet, frost, ice, and snow cover, min <0, maximum and minimum <0, maximum > 25 and different water group levels; rain hours and duration; mean intensity of rain; and frequency of rain amounts. The monthly mean temperature averaged over the period is tabulated. Annual totals of the above parameters can be found in the book with call no. C/dc 200 Hm. reference. In addition there is data on the latest and earliest frost and greatest amount of snowfall for each of the appropriate months, hottest and coldest days, highest and lowest water levels (including dates), and maps of monthly distribution of rainfall and monthly total rainfall in the region for each year. Additional climate data resides in 6 books, 'Wichtigste Ergebnisse der Meteorologischen Beobachtungen in Hessen' (C/dc 200 Hwi) written in German. The data contained in this book are tables of daily, monthly, and annual surface climatic data for the Hessen region of Germany averaged over the period 1901 to 1920. The daily parameters included in these data are mean temperature, temperature change, and per cent sunshine. The monthly variables incorporated in these data are the following: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, sunshine, and precipitation totals; mean monthly maximum and minimum pressure, and temperature; absolute maximum 24 hour precipitation; mean number of days of precipitation greater than a certain intensity, snow or snow and rain greater than a certain intensity; sunshine; and mean number of snow and frost-free days. Other parameters included in these data are mean earliest and latest snowfall and frost; absolute earliest and latest snowfall; absolute greatest snow cover depth; and absolute earliest and latest frost. There is a map of mean annual precipitation. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983. |
