Abstract:
The Danzig surface climatic data resides in 8 books, 'Ergebnisse Der Meteorologischen Beobachtungen Danzig Statt. Observ.' (C/dba AO-D) written in German. The data contained in these books are tables of daily and monthly surface climatic data and hourly observations for Danzig, Poland from 1930 to 1938. Parameters included in the hourly observations are pressure, vapor pressure, air temperature, cloud cover, humidity, precipitation, and winds. Daily data are soil temperature observations, maximum and minimum air temperature, mean temperature and winds, sunshine duration, and precipitation totals. Monthly parameters included in these data for each individual month include the following: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, sunshine, cloudiness, and wind speed; mean maximum and minimum pressure and temperature; absolute maximum and minimum pressure and temperature; and number of days of precipitation, precipitation greater then a certain intensity, snow, hail, thunderstorms, fog, haze, clear and cloudy skies, frost days, ice days, summer days, and strong winds. Monthly variables averaged over the period 1925-1934 represented in these data are mean wind velocity for a given hour, and storm days for a given wind direction. Seasonal data are wind direction frequency for each hour and for each individual season of the year, and average wind velocity for a given wind direction, averaged over the period. The Danzig sunshine statistics resides in 1 book, 'Ergebnisse Der Strahlungregistrierungen am Staalichen Observatorium Danzig im Jahre 1936-37' (C/dba AO-D) written in German. The data contained in this book are daily sunshine statistics for Danzig, Poland from 1936 to 1937. The parameters included in these data are the following: solar radiation intensity for a given time of day; hours of direct solar radiation for each day of the year; and daily totals of sunshine and sky radiation on a horizontal surface. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983. |
