STORM Hourly Surface/Upper Air Wind Profiler Network Data for the United States
Entry ID:
gov.noaa.ncdc.C00335
Summary
Abstract:
This data set is from the Wind Profiler Network (WPN), part of the National Storm Operational Research Project (STORM). This project is being carried out by the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) Asheville, North Carolina, and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Forecast Systems Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. The network consists of ground stations located in the eastern 2/3 of the United States measuring wind components in the u, v, and w directions, and relevant quality control indicators for all levels. This wind data are averaged over an hour time period. The data processing level is IIb and the spatial resolution is 300 km.
Purpose: To make a wide range of climatic data available to researchers and the public. CURRENTNESS REFERENCE: Ground Condition Pricing is dependent on customer order specifications. Please contact NCDC for information on fees and terms for retrieving the Data Set or Product.
