Taken from the 2009-2010 Progress Report: Field work: Bones were collected from exposed outcrops Landing Beach and Bauer Bay. The collections from Macquarie Island are complete for this project. It is intended to contact museums around the world to secure samples collected at the island between 1850 and today. These samples will be analysed for isotopes, DNA and pollutants. Laboratory activity/analysis: DNA extractions at Griffith University to be completed by the end of the year. Stable isotope and carbon dating of the bones to commence after July. Museum specimens sourced throughout the next year.
