Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is an important fish pathogen that
can cause high levels of mortality particularly in intensively cultured fish. The virus can infect various life stages of salmonid and nonsalmonid fishes, and fish that survive primary infection can be lifelong carriers of the virus.
