Summary
Abstract:
This data set contains a list of 273 samples collected during the 1998-99 and
2000-2001 Italian Antarctic Expeditions in several non-marine environments of Victoria Land. In particular mosses, soils, benthic algal mats and snow samples were collected in order to study their microalgal content. Following the Ecophysiology and Ecotoxicology research line of the PNRA, microalgae were isolated on ... ![]() Geographic Coverage

Quality
A collection of benthic algal mats, mosses, soils, snow from several Victoria
Land localities with GPS. Isolation of microalgae from those samples through the growing on selected culture media (BBM, BG11). Exposition of cultures to an UV-B source in different times. Extraction of pigments and analysis (with spectrophotometer and HPLC) to determine chlorophyll, carotenoids, fatty acids content.
